As the yellow trend blooms anew, we sat down with Sophie to explore her personal love of the colour, how she weaves it through her home and lifestyle, and which yellow pottery pieces she considers true favourites.

Why Yellow?

“I love how yellow instantly lifts a space,” Sophie shares. “It’s just such a happy colour. It adds warmth, brightness, and a little bit of fun.” From painting her kitchen shutters in Sudbury Yellow by Farrow & Ball to layering yellow linen lampshades over classic Villa Bologna lamp bases, Sophie finds endless joy in the way this colour enlivens a room—rain or shine.

Yellow, she explains, works beautifully in rooms where a little cheerfulness goes a long way—think kitchens, dining spaces, and living areas. It’s a colour that complements natural light, but also warms up the darker days, making it ideal for year-round use.

A Balanced Touch

Yellow can be bold—but Sophie believes it’s all about the tone. “In our last home, we had really vibrant patterned tiles, and I made sure to pick a yellow that matched the warmth of the colours in the pattern. That way, it felt harmonious rather than overwhelming.”
